Указатели количества используются:

• с исчисляемыми существительными: many, (a) few, a number of, a couple of.

Пример:

how many students are there in the class?
There were few apples in the box.

• С исчисляемыми и неисчисляемыми существительными: some, any, no, a lot of, lots of, plenty of.

Пример:

there aren’t any cars on the road at the moment.
There isn’t any traffic on the road at the moment.
